Contrary to what you may think, the 2002 is the culmination year of my career. Our work is very similar to agriculture !!! And the same three stages of planting, we had to leave the harvest behind, and I have planted enough in the past year and I am waiting for the harvest. The years before I was involved in undergraduate and graduate studies are my years of underemployment. Of course, I have become much more selective than the years I started working. In general, I write more songs than selling songs!
How do you assess the current state of music in Iran?
I can not predict the future of our music at all now! In my opinion, music needs a new wave of young singers who should be given the opportunity to expand. It is not pleasant at all that we have so many young singers with good potential, but only a few singers, whose number does not even reach the fingers of both hands, have a moving arena and are financially supported, and the stages belong only to them. Some eat the bread of their name and others miss the same name!
You are also a university professor! Tell us about this activity?
Yes, in addition to songwriting, I teach economics at free universities and I am a university professor.
As a well-established songwriter in music, which of your colleagues do you follow?
Of course, because I work in music and song, I often listen to and follow the work of my fellow musicians. I hear the work of my dear sister Mahdieh Arab, who is very active and energetic and is my most accessible colleague, sooner than anyone else. In general, I have a lot of songs with my friends that I have been following with them because of my personal interest.
Has there been someone you were interested in working with, but to date this has not happened ?!
Yes, but I could, like many of the songwriter’s friends, play the role of proposer or producer, paving the way for my songs to be performed by popular singers and familiar names, but rightly or wrongly I never did. . Unfortunately, some songwriters not only collaborate with brand and famous singers to be featured, but also produce free songs and arrangements for them in addition to free songs, and even shoot free music videos and produce full albums to make their dreams come true. Go ahead! I have moved slowly and steadily and tried to think of perseverance until one period my name is on the tongues and I will be forgotten tomorrow.
Certainly, in spite of the huge number of songwriters, some will be sifted and only a few will survive, and going overnight’s overnight has never been a secret, and I will not pay any price to achieve my desires. We will soon hear the result of my patience after more than a decade of activity in the field of music and song.
How do you see the different sessions of the song? Have they been effective to date?
There are many song sessions, but unfortunately, the atmosphere in all of these sessions is not very healthy and positive. Some of our friends use these meetings to magnify those around them and their friends and to question others! These meetings should be more of a workshop, which does not apply to some of the existing meetings, but in general it can be said that the role of these meetings is to introduce the good songwriters who are currently active and very well known; It has been a prominent and valuable role.
About the song session of “Cafe Taraneh” which is managed by Mahdieh and me. To date, our efforts have been to create a friendly atmosphere for closer relations between young songwriters and composers and singers, as well as to improve the quality of songs. Thank God, we have passed this way well, thanks to God, and with the company of our fellow artists and artists.
What is Mahshad Arab complaining about in the music and atmosphere that prevails these days?
The performance of the producers and their breaking of hands for only a few famous singers, the mafias that have paved the way for the collaboration of aspiring songwriters and composers with the collaboration of well-known domestic and foreign singers, and the songwriters who not only do not get paid but also pay They produce music, clips and albums so that Mr. X and Mrs. Y can read their work. Did you hear a song that you wished belonged to you? Or was the sense of work too close to your spirit?
Yes, there were some works that I had this feeling about, but most of them were lasting works, most of which were composed by Iraj Jannati Ataei, Mansour Tehrani and Ardalan Sarfaraz.
Tell us a little about Taraneh Cafe and the conditions for attending this meeting?
More than twenty sessions have not passed from the life of singing and critique sessions of “Cafe Taraneh”, but nevertheless, these sessions have been well received and have flourished. Mahdieh and I manage these meetings, which are held two Thursdays a month. In addition to singing and reciting poems and criticizing the works, the music café meetings also include music day discussions and the distribution of new works, and many friends of the composer and singer and even many TV and music residents also attend these meetings. We also have live music performances at each session. Basically, artist friends or art lovers attend these meetings, there are no special conditions for attendance, just being kind and ambitious friends is enough.
